Well hello there!
Alas, I've finally undertaken what...well needs to be undertaken (in my sense of the word): Tia Dalma's costume. I've created this here LJ to document the details/cost/ways of making it. I'm making it solely from scratch, mostly basing the jacket/corset off a pattern and altering it. Currently I have all the fabric I need (and BOY that overskirt fabric is fricking hard to find!) and am just waiting for my tax return to come in and put into my checking account to order the tassel rope, tassel trims, and jacket fabric.
Mostly it hasn't been too hard, just expensive and a bit difficult on the jacket/overskirt fabric. But, I've found those two and just need to deeply lighten both fabrics (yay Bleach!!) so that they're lighter. Anyway, I'm currently at work (I work at my University's library on Saturdays...eeeww) but when I get back to my dorm I'll probably be taking a few pictures of what I have (unfortunately the wig is back home..couldn't fit it in my suitcase) and what I'm currently doing (like, oh say the bagillions of fabric painting needed to be done).
So I just wanted to introduce myself and my LJ entry.
This costume is going to be worn for the Boston premiere of "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" and *possibly* for another premiere in Swansea, MA which I'll be getting paid to dress up and go to. Though I'll probably be recovering from the money loss of this costume for a couple months, it's definitely going to be a favorite of mine to wear!
